Princess Jasmine is the heroine of Disney's 1992 animated film Aladdin and the princess of the Kingdom of Agrabah. Distinguished by her long raven hair, confident deep eyes and her pet tiger Rajah, she is a unique figure among all Disney Princesses.
Unlike earlier princesses who waited to be rescued by princes, Jasmine refuses to comply with the feudal royal law that requires her to marry before her birthday. She declares firmly, "I am not a prize to be won," bravely rebelling against the fate arranged by the palace. She sneaks out of the palace, meets the genuine poor young man Aladdin on the street, and falls in love with him.
Intelligent, independent and outspoken, Jasmine proves through her actions that a princess’s worth is never defined by marriage, and love and freedom ought to be fought for by herself.
