The Mandalorian & Grogu

2026-03-09

After nearly seven years, a new Star Wars film is finally on the horizon. Lucas Film has unveiled a brand-new trailer and poster for The Mandalorian & Grogu, a highly anticipated cinematic extension of the blockbuster Disney+ series, which is scheduled to premiere in North American theaters on May 22.

In the trailer, Pedro Pascal's Mandalorian Din Djarin and his young apprentice Grogu (affectionately known as Baby Yoda by fans) set out on a new journey. This time, they will venture into perilous territory and confront the most notorious gang in the galaxy - the Hutts.

According to the official synopsis, in the aftermath of the Empire’s collapse, warlord remnants have spread across the galaxy, and the fledgling New Republic is in urgent need of aid. In response, the legendary bounty hunter Din Djarin and his apprentice are called to duty. Series creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni return to steer this big-screen continuation. Favreau has noted that following three seasons of the series, the Mandalorian has found a renewed purpose: he no longer seeks to be a mere mercenary, but instead aspires to fight for the galaxy’s innocent. This shift signals a closer alliance with the New Republic.

This marks the first Star Wars theatrical release since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, and also Lucas Film’s first major motion picture in the franchise’s new era.
